Can the Machine Read ?

Working in digital humanities can be challenging. For those who are not used to computer technologies, this hybrid field may seem opaque. Are computers replacing human beings? Does analyzing literary texts thanks to algorithms reduce literature to a mere numerical system? Besides, what is an algorithm? How does it work?
This page was created to answer these questions and to make all the mechanisms of the machine apparent. From computational stylistics to sentiment analysis, we have tried to make as clear as possible thanks to illustrations all these mechanisms that underlie many projects at the crossroad between literature and data science.
